Worship & opening prayer
Invite a short prayer of thanks. Sing a familiar, church-approved song or speak a simple line of praise together. Children may listen quietly; no video or music purchase is needed.
Bible & memory practice
Help children locate 2 Timothy 3:14-17. Name the book, chapter, and verse. Read Psalm 119:105 from your NIV Bible. Repeat in short phrases with simple gestures; older children explain a phrase to a younger partner.
Discover the Bible story
Read the selected passage aloud in manageable sections. Tell the three-part story in your own voice, pausing for children to point, predict, or retell. Use the Jesus connection to bring the story back to him.
Talk it through
Use the three discussion questions. Give quiet thinking time, then talk in pairs before inviting group answers. Welcome questions and allow children to pass.
Create & practice
Introduce Bible address bookmarks. Demonstrate the first step, work together, and use the student page to check understanding. Choose the younger or older adaptation as needed; finish remaining drawing at home if time is short.
Respond & pray
Connect the big idea to one choice this week. Invite a voluntary prayer or quiet reflection: God, help us understand your Word and know Jesus more. Do not pressure children to speak or perform.

Ask: Show me the book name, chapter, or verse in a reference. Revisit the big idea, tidy supplies, and share the family connection with caregivers through your church’s normal collection process.

Read aloud: 2 Timothy 3:14-17

Timothy learned the Scriptures when he was young. Later, Paul reminded him to keep learning and trusting what God had taught him. Children can learn God's Word too.
The Bible includes history, songs, letters, and more. God worked through human writers. Scripture teaches truth, shows when we are wrong, and helps us learn to live God's way.
After Jesus rose, he explained how the Scriptures pointed to him. The Bible is more than a collection of heroes. Its great story helps us know the God who saves.

LEARN BY DOING
Bible address bookmarks
- Fold a strip of paper into three sections labeled Book, Chapter, and Verse.
- Write the example Mark 1:17 and point to each part.
- Model using the contents page to find Mark, then the large and small numbers.
- Partners make a bookmark and help one another locate the passage; do not race.
GRADES 1–2
Make it concrete.
Point to the numbers and decorate the bookmark; an adult writes the labels.
GRADES 3–5
Take it deeper.
Locate a second reference and explain the address to a partner.
Offer a quiet workspace, movement breaks, picture choices, or an adult scribe. Adapt to the child’s needs rather than relying only on grade.
